Behind the original walls used to be the beach, but it has now all been reclaimed, known as the “Nanxing Project.” The former sandy beaches of the Hongmao Harbor’s intertidal zone are now filled with oil transfer tanks. Looking inland, there are countless chimneys emitting white smoke, and the factories are brightly lit at night. Though it may seem beautiful, it’s all just a facade. (Photographed by Huang Zhenwei)
