By observing the environment and living spaces in the Dalinpu area and engaging in conversations with local residents, we gain insights into one of the six coastal villages, Dalinpu, along the coast. We come to understand the dilemma between economic development and environmental justice. Drawing inspiration from the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we reevaluate the meaning and direction of a nation’s sustainability, using this as a catalyst to nurture students’ “health literacy and the development of humanistic narrative skills.”

Explanation
Dalinpu was once a thriving area in the Kaohsiung region, but starting from the 1970s, the government began land expropriations, and heavy industrial factories began to emerge one after another, altering the landscape of the settlement. What used to be thriving aquaculture businesses like fish ponds and shrimp farms have now transformed into nearly a thousand smokestacks. The environment shifted from a lush rural setting to an industrial hub. However, the rich human history of Dalinpu has continued to shine consistently.
